At DC Clear Auto Bra, we understand that your car is one of your most prized possessions. We feel the same way about our own cars, which is why we always emphasize the importance of routine maintenance. Taking the proper steps to maintain your car will keep it looking and performing its best. It will also save you time and money, because neglecting your car will ultimately lead to costly repairs.

Here are 10 tips for keeping your car going strong all summer long.

1). Check Air Filter

A clean air filter will prevent AC problems and keep you breathing healthy air. Be sure to check your filter frequently and get it changed once a year or after 12,000 miles – whichever comes first.

2). Inspect Fluid Levels

After your car has cooled off, open it and check the oil level with the detachable dipstick. Check your power steering fluid and radiator fluid as well, and take this opportunity to top off your windshield wiper fluid. When your car is warmed up gain, check the transmission fluid.

3). Check Tire Pressure

Use a tire gauge to check your tire pressure. This should be done about once every two weeks to make sure your tires aren’t experiencing extra wear and tear from running low.

4). Check Battery Life

Do a visual inspection of your battery. If you see corrosion or mineral build-up around it, clean it well with a battery cleaning brush. You can use a multimeter to check the battery’s charge. If your car’s battery light comes on, it’s time to check your battery ASAP!

5). Change Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are good for about 30,000 miles. If your engine isn’t performing as well as you’d like, the spark plugs could be to blame. Check them for build-up and get them changed as needed.

6). Get Tires Rotated and Balanced

This will help your tires wear evenly and help your car’s fuel efficiency. Get your alignment checked as well, since a poorly aligned car can be dangerous to drive.

7). Replace Windshield Wipers

If your windshield wipers aren’t working as well as they used to, it’s probably time to change the wiper blades. It’s important to have a clear view of the road and to protect your windshield from abrasions caused by old wipers.

8). Check Serpentine Belts

Inspect your car’s serpentine belts for signs of wear and tear. They should last about 60,000 miles, but check your car owner’s manual for specifics.

9). Check Brakes

Check between your wheel spokes and get a visual on your brake pads. The outside pad will be pressed against a metal rotor. If you see less than a quarter-inch of pad, it’s time to replace your brake pads. Be sure to check your brake fluid as well.

10). Protect Your Paint Job and Interior

Keep your car looking new with a paint protection film like XPEL Ultimate Plus, Fusion Plus, or Stealth. It doesn’t matter if your vehicle has a matte or glossy finish, or something in between; DC Clear Auto Bra has the right solution to keep it looking gorgeous. Aftermarket mods aren’t a problem. We can custom fit protective films to any part of your car.
